"I have been a fan of the Donkey Kong Country series since I could barely walk and talk. My favorite animals growing up were monkeys, so when I saw a game where I could play as them and go on an adventure, I was instantly sold. This game was Donkey Kong Country 2 on the SNES. I remember spending countless hours of my childhood exploring this amazing world and attempting to rescue DK from the clutches of the dastardly Kaptain K. Rool. While I initially played as Diddy because he was the boy character, I eventually tried out Dixie and discovered her awesome hair abilities, which I used to breeze through the game with ease. This made me feel like a complete badass, and she quickly cemented herself as one of my favorite video game characters of all time. As a result, Dixie Kong is easily my top choice when it comes to Smash Bros. newcomers.

In my opinion, Dixie Kong is one of the few remaining Nintendo "All-Stars" that has not yet become a fighter. I consider Dixie to be among the likes of King K. Rool, Ridley, and Toad because she has a considerable résumé. She has been a major character in the Donkey Kong franchise since her debut in the mid '90s; she has made appearances in 17 games outside of remakes, and has been playable in 14 of those titles. In terms of female Nintendo characters, Dixie has never been a damsel-in-distress, and has even gone on two adventures to rescue the damselled main male heroes of the franchise; this makes her one of the few female video game characters who have completely turned the tables on this formula. Additionally, Dixie even starred as the main playable character in her own game almost a decade before Peach did. In my eyes, Dixie has paid her dues and is worthy of joining the ranks of other Nintendo icons in the Smash roster.

In terms of moveset potential, Dixie has plenty to work with. A lot of Dixie's detractors say that she does not have enough potential to be a unique fighter, but I completely disagree. Her ponytail is the key; she could use it to give her a diverse set of normals by swinging it around, whipping it, and using it for a tether grab/tether recovery and potentially a command grab as one of her specials. Most importantly, her ponytail would give her an outstanding recovery and aerial mobility, like it does in the Donkey Kong games. In addition to her ponytail, she could also use things like her guitar, her Bubblegum Popgun from Tropical Freeze, and the Rocket Bongos from Barrel Blast. While she may not have as much moveset potential as, say, King K. Rool, she still has enough source material to build a moveset without stretching too far.

In short, Dixie Kong is my number one choice for Smash Bros. DLC. She is one of my favorite video game characters of all time, she has plenty of moveset potential, and I feel that she has earned the right to join the Smash Bros. roster alongside DK and Diddy"

"I would say the reason that she should be in is that she's been one if the main protagonists to one of nintendo's biggest (and in smash most underrepresented) series since 1995. She wasn't some damsel in distress or afterthought, she was a bonified bad *** and starred in some of DKC's biggest titles. Before we start thinking about what indie characters we want to add we need to right the wrong of the last two games and add the most important kong to never be in smash bros.

For a character that's been a playable protagonist in one of nintendo's biggest series since 1995 and who's series was recently revived it's pretty crazy that she's still not in smash. She's definitely one of the most recognizable nintendo characters to still not be in the game. Anyone saying she'd be a clone of diddy has obviously never played a DKC game, that would be like saying metaknight would just be another kirby clone.

"Its really a shame that Dixie Kong doesn't get the recognition she deserves. She is probably among the best female protagonists in gaming, and probably the most notable Nintendo one usually in a playable role next to Samus."

"I remember being asked about what she offered other than her hair that would set her apart from Diddy Kong. A lot in my opinion, everything that Diddy doesn't bring to the table, she can. I think it's already posted in the OP, but animal companions play a role in DK games and barrels can be used as well. Her standing animation of her blowing bubbles can be worked with and expanded upon as well as her end level guitar playing. There's a lot of DK games I haven't played but I'm sure she has potential. She doesn't have to be just a Diddy clone. And her hair is awesome."

"She would be a fresh, unique, different character, and I love that kind of characters, people saying she would be a clone of Diddy is just hilarious so I'm not even arguing with them"

"I'm a big fan of her and I would love to see DK, Diddy Kong, and Dixie together in Smash. It would be a sight to behold.Plus, DK deserves another rep (actually two!). Period!"

"I think she would be a fun character to have on the roster. It would be cool to see both Diddy and Dixie as playable, and I think I would enjoy her playstyle more than K. Rool's. Not really into the heavy weights myself."

"She should have been in Smash U to begin with. She starred in her own game for goodness sakes.
She's literally one of the last Nintendo all-stars from the 90's who has yet to be in Smash"

"When I think of Nintendo Heroines Dixie is the first one I think of right after Samus. In a nice bit of role reversal Dixie(the heroine) was forced to save the hero(twice) and her love interest(once) from the big bad. For the time that was pretty impressive. When Sm4sh started to show it was bringing forth more female characters, Dixie was honestly the only one I wanted."

Captain Toad

"I want Dixie super badly. She's the most useful throughout the Kongs with her gliding hair move. It'd be so awesome if she had the red hair purple outfit alt from DKC2!! *.* She should be able to jump with barrels and move while holding it like Donkey Kong but with her ponytail. I see her move set easily from Tropical Freeze and I'd love to have the three kongs at 100% damage against 0% King K. Roll handicap matches xD"

"Whilst not a huge DK series fan, I do like Dixie, and would like to see her in, especially since I think the DK series could do with at least one character in there. (I want Captain Toad in, so clearly the number thing doesn't really bother me as much as it might other fans.)
However, I hope she'd be quite different from Diddy, but I don't mind her taking small bits from him to help implement her, but I don't really want a Pit/Dark Pit or Marth/Lucina thing for Dixie, she deserves better than that."

"While I'd rather have K. Rool, I'd have no problems whatsoever if Dixie got in instead. Personally, I think both should have been in by now."

"I like Dixie Kong and I loved DKC2 as well. While I can't say that I'm interested in her from a game play perspective; it'd be nice to see her being added. Granted I'd be irritated if King K. Rool missed out again, but at least Dixie Kong's inclusion wouldn't affirm my fear that Nintendo/Sakurai dislike the Donkey Kong Country series (which a lack of newcomers as DLC would do)."

K.Rool is fun, but I would greatly prefer if Dixie won out in the end. I've always preferred heroes over villains, and the idea of all three stars of the original DKC trilogy being in Smash makes me very happy.
